Pablo is in his 3rd year of a 6 1/2 yr medical program. He says he began reading his scriptures first thing in the morning again, and one of his know-it-all doctor professors was actually nice to him the first day he reinstated this practice. Everything is going better because of the spiritual influence. | Querido Familia y Amigos: Sunday night we had our third barrio fireside for young single adults. We learned we have some competition for firesides from the stake, so will watch to avoid it in the future. We did have three impressive young people with us. Antonio stayed after and told us about his job at the US Embassy, his studies for a bachelor of business administration degree, and his private business of making and selling brownies door to door (at least when it isn't raining). He hopes to start his own businesses and retire by 35. (He's now 22). Dad and I once had that dream, and guess what! Dad's still working! |
Farewell to one of our beloved apostles: We were saddened to read of Elder Scott's death this week. Dad and I particularly liked his many talks about teaching ideas. We tried them in institute class at the University of Utah. This apostle touched me at the right time with his book "Peace, Happiness and Joy." I have taught concepts and given this book as a gift several times. |
Bendiciones del Templo: Thursday our training meeting began with the testimony of a lovely mother, about the blessings of the temple for her son. Her words were all in Spanish, so I absorbed her light more than the exact content of "sus palabras." I also had quiet moments in the Celestial Room. There is nothing quite like the support and availability of the Lord in the temple. I think everyone who comes here leaves knowing he or she has been in the Lord's house. I bought orange roses and white chrysanthemums at our corner tienda again. I am following in the tradition of my grandfather and certainly my mother to share them. They made three bouquets, one of which I took to the temple secretaries. I sometimes think I should be taking the secretaries food, but Dad pointed out they don't need the extra calories. As far as I know I am the only one who takes flowers. Our neighbor calls me the "Flower Sister." I'm carrying on a family tradition. |
